Class 2 News
During the Autumn term, the children in Class 2 have enjoyed studying “The Polar Regions” and “The Bronze Age” as our topics. The children learned about the similarities and differences in the Polar Regions, how the Arctic and Antarctica have dramatic seasonal change and how animals have adapted to live in such a harsh environment. When studying The Bronze Age the children have learned how artefacts can help us learn about the past, tested the properties of materials used in The Bronze Age and discussed the myths about how Stonehenge was built and what it was used for.
During literacy, the children have learned how to write in several different genres such as story writing, letter writing and non-chronological reports. In Numeracy, the children have learned how to solve problems using the addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. They have solved problems involving time and presented data on charts and graphs by using ICT.
The children, this term, have enjoyed learning the recorder in their music lessons and all of the children enjoyed being part of the Key Stage 1 Nativity performance of “Straw and Order”
Our Class Routine
On Wednesday the children in Class 2 have a PE lesson with Mr Midwinter and on Thursday they have a PE lesson with Mr Owen. The children are required to have their PE kits in school every day as there may be times when physical activities are taught on different days. Each week the children get the opportunity to choose a library book in addition to their daily reading books. The Class 2 library time is on a Friday. Each week, on a Thursday, the children will be given a piece of maths homework and a set of spelling to practise that they have been learning in school during the week.
