Governance of Ickford Learning Trust and Ickford School
The Ickford Learning Trust was founded in June 2016 and is a non-profit making academy trust registered with Companies House (10160645). The Trust oversees Ickford School and is governed by three Members, nine Trustees (referred to as Governors) and the Headteacher.
The Members of the Trust are the signatories of the memorandum and articles of association. They set out the constitution of the school and agree on its ethos and character. They have the authority to appoint and dismiss Governors and they are accountable to the Secretary of State.
The Governors form a Governing Body and oversee the running of the school and determine its strategic direction. They are accountable to the Members and the Secretary of State. The full Governing Body meets once every half term and in addition each class has a Governor assigned to it who makes regular visits to the school to see the children and staff. As teaching and learning is central to everything we do, the whole Governing Body makes up the Teaching and Learning Committee and the only sub-committee at Ickford School is the Finance, Premises and Personnel Committee which meets at least three times per year.
The Headteacher is responsible for the day to day running of the school and for advising the Governing Body on its strategic direction. They are accountable to the Governors and Members and reports to them each half term. The Headteacher is also the Chief Accounting Officer of the Trust.
